Welcome!

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by! This blog was created to document the sweet and simple days before our upcoming wedding, as well as the days that will follow into marital bliss. 50 years from now when we're old and gray, we can look back at this blog and remind ourselves of reasons to laugh and love, and of our life together--sweet & simple.

Tamale Making 2011

Every year during the holidays, Marco's family makes hundreds and hundreds of tamales to share with family and friends.  Tamale Extravaganza 2011 took place more than 2 months ago, but I figured it's better late to share these photos than never.  We ended up making (that's spreading, filling, rolling and steaming) over 600 tamales in one day.  Repeat, ONE day!!  You can't do that without making it an entire family affair.  Oh, and in case you're wondering...yes, they were delicious!

Me and Abuela.  We had made the filling for the tamales a few days before the rest of the fam joined in on the fun

Marco's cousins, Adam and Jacob were also in charge of mixing a batch of masa.  Judging from Jacob's expression, I think we all know how he feels about that.

It's no wonder we only make tamales once a year.  After spending the day helping make 600 tamales, it takes a whole year to recover before you're ready to make, or eat, tamales again :)
